PREFACE

Welcome to the newest series here at Faith and Conviction and the project, the work of which, will be consuming the next few years of my life. While I, Seth Bartley, am the primary administrator for this series and will be overseeing research and development, I have turned over primary authorship to my brother-in-arms Yosef Kadosh. The LORD has placed us together in pursuit of His Truth and Light. I will say that I trust Yosef to uphold the spirit and integrity of my works as much as Samuel Clemens trusted Mark Twain; in fact, I am counting on him being a better man than I.

May the LORD bless you and have a good day.

Greetings, my name is Yosef Kadosh. I have been invited onto Faith and Conviction as a guest author. Mr. Bartley and Minister Harris have been gracious enough to place me over this expansive series. It is our prayer that you will be enlightened, captivated, and inspired, by the events you read here. Ha-Siphrâh (The Books) is a collection of 77 books; it is a parable; it is a story of three men’s spiritual journeys.

You may have already noticed the title art for this series. As I said, this series is a parable and we have gone to great lengths to remove the material from any sense of familiarity so that readers can come to this with fresh eyes. This series takes place in a world of fantastic persons and scientific marvels. But if you pay attention to your surroundings as you sojourn through their world, then you will quickly see that their world is in fact very much ours. But don’t look behind the curtain too much, I beg you; it spoils the mystery. So sit tight, grab some snacks, and join us for the ride.

PS. If any reader feels moved to contribute to this work either in writing or illustration, please let us know by contacting Mr. Bartley.

Yosef Kadosh

YHWH is the Great Provider.
Be content and count your blessings,
Focus on today, tomorrow will worry about itself, but
Tomorrow never comes.
What a lie.
You’ll provide everything I need today and stop loving me tomorrow.
YHWH is the Great Provider.

Why rely on this god?
The world will show no mercy
Deities who promise the world
There are so many
What wonderful works have we seen lately?
This is the LORD.
All things are possible?

Many say nothing is impossible
Nothing happens.
I see the people of this world
They are calling out to God
Who they are calling out to?
Nothing
Many find God lacking

You are not alone.
You are not alone.

Acts 15—Council of Jerusalem: Part 2

Welcome back. We have neared the end of this journey together and in my last article, Part 1, we investigated a great deal of Acts 15. I left you with an assignment to read and study the rest of the chapter. If you haven’t finished yet, I suggest you go back and finish before reading on. Today we finish the job. I pray we are blessed as we enter into His word.

How was a solution reached?
We saw James’ solution previously, but we didn’t flesh it out. James’ solution is nearly identical to the final solution of the Council. So let’s look at his argument and how he reached his conclusion.

James’ Argument

Then the whole assembly kept still as they listened to [Paul] and [Barnabas] tell what signs and miracles God had done through them among the Gentiles. [James] broke the silence to reply.“Brothers,” he said, “hear what I have to say. [Simon (Peter)] has told in detail what God did when he first began to show his concern for taking from among the [Gentiles] a people to bear his name.(Acts 15.12-14)

Acts 15—Council of Jerusalem: Part 1

We come ever closer to my last article in the Meditations series. I have been reviewing my Introductions article to make sure I have not forgotten to cover any of the topics I promised to cover. It occurred to me while reading that I haven’t yet delivered an article which really digs at the meat of a scripture passage. Sure, I’ve written lots of articles which dive deep into theological issues, but none that are an analysis of Scripture itself. So the question becomes, which Scripture? Hmm, a simple and straightforward one, a juicy and complicated one,

I’ve got it! For our Bible study tonight, let’s open our Bibles and turn to Acts 15. I chose this passage because it sticks out as significantly unique (several arguments and events all pivot on this narrative), this passage ties into several other Scriptures (allowing us to have a fuller study), and this passage has relatively clear breakpoints in the grammar (making it easier to analyze).
