Using Matthew 1.17 to consider the Hebrew, Israelite and Jewish reality of: Abraham (a Hebrew), David and Jesus (both Hebrew, Israelite, and Jew). The English Bible Translations are beautiful, but limit our ability to see the Hebrew, Israelite and Jewish Cultures that brought the Messiah.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations. (Matthew 1.17 KJV)
